Characteristics

Trunk to over 3 m long; stem simple or branched; crowns 1 to few, each an uneven hemisphere. Leaves quadrate-rhombic to transverse-rhombic in T.S., 2.2-2.8 mm wide, 2.1-2.4 mm thick, green, not glaucous. Scape 60-100 cm long, 20-30 mm diam. Spike c. 2-3 times longer than scape, 150-250 cm long, rarely to 320 cm, 30-60 mm diam. Cluster-bracts obscure. Packing-bracts shortly acute to triangular, distally glabrous to very slightly subglabrous, the proximal margins and adaxial surface glabrous to hairy. Sepals shortly acute to acute, without beak or proboscis, subglabrous to sparsely hairy. Petals recurved, with proboscis, glabrous except at apex.
