Characteristics

Annual, biennial or perennial herbs, branching. Hairs simple, eglandular. Leaves all or mostly basal. Inflorescences cymose or paniculate. Capitula pedunculate; involucral bracts biseriate; soft and reflexed at maturity. Florets: ligule yellow. Achenes homomorphic, not compressed or outer ones slightly compressed, unbeaked. Pappus of bristles, usually persistent; bristles scabrid-barbellate, uniform within a pappus.
