Characteristics

Tree to 20 m high, with sparsely greyish-or rusty-pubescent young stems with prominent lenticels, soon ± glabrous. Leaves: lamina ovate to elliptic, 80–150 mm long, 35–60 mm wide, cuneate to obtuse or (rarely) cordate base, finely serrulate margin, bluntly acuminate apex, ± concolorous, glabrous or sparsely pubescent beneath; petiole 7–12 mm long; stipules 1.5–3 mm long, not spinescent, caducous. Inflorescence axes and flowers glabrous or sparsely pubescent. Pedicels 2.5–5 mm long. Hypanthium 3–3.5 mm diam. Sepals 2.2–2.5 mm long. Petals longitudinally rolled, 2–2.4 mm long. Stamens 2.2–2.5 mm long. Disc smooth, glabrous. Ovary half-inferior; carpels 2; style 0.4–1 mm long. Fruit not seen.
