Characteristics

Caules herbacei ramosi. Rami teretes, alterni, hirsuti, superne glanduloso-hirsuti, atque viscidi, florigeri superne aphylli. Folia linearia, semiamplexicaulia, integerrima, acuminata, alterna, conferta, hirsuto-ciliata, uninervia, saepe gemmulifera, inferiora circiter 1 1/2'' longa, vix linea latiora et reflexa, superiora erecto-patentia et minora. Capitula terminalia, solitaria, erecta, aeque magna ac in Bellide perenni. Involucrum campanulatum, disco aequale, circiter 3-seriale, foliolis linearibus, acuminatis, planiusculis, subaequalibus, extus hirsutis, circiter 2'' longis, interioribus magis glabratis. Rhachis planiuscula, nuda. Pappus radii: nullus, disci: paucisetosus, valde caducus, setis clavatis, serratis, corollis brevioribus. Corollae glabrae, disci: luteae, 5-dentatae, obconicae, circiter 1 1/2'' longae, dentibus erectis; radii: lingulis coeruleis, revolutis. Ovaria disci linearia, inania, glabra. Achaenia radii atra, plano-compressa, fere 3 mm 1 1/2'' longa, 2-costata, costis angularibus, in facie utraque pilis brevibus, carnosiusculis, crebris obsessa.
