Characteristics

Planta perennis suffruticosa dense foliosa decumbens cr. 15 cm alta ramis adscendentibus. Caulis in parte basali lignosus, griseo-fuscus, denudatus et phyllopodiis ornatus, superne glaber, griseo-fuscus vel saepe rubescens. Folia alterna plerumque reflexa raro erecta, anguste ovata ad spathulata acuta, in parte basali angustata, integra, usque ad 10 mm longa et 3 mm lata, semiamplexicaulia et leviter decurrentia, uninervia, utrinque glabra et conceptaculis plurimis resiniferis semipellucidis ornata, paulum crasso-coriacea, subviridia ad griseo-olivaceo-viridia. Capitula magna solitaria distincte pedunculata; pedunculi 15 ad 65 mm longi straminei ad subfusci, ± glabri ad laxe lanuginosi saepe striati, 2-8 bracteis obsiti. Involucrum 4-5-seriatum distincte imbricatum 11-13 mm altum et 16-20 mm latum, late turbinatum. Involucri bracteae 22-26 lanceolatae glabrae 1-2 vittis resiniferis obsitae, stramineae vel virides, laxe rubescentes, exteriores 6-8 x 1.7-2.0 mm, interiores 12-13 x 1.6-2.2 mm, margine ciliatae. Flores radii feminei cr. 12 coerulei ad violacei. Ligula elongata 11 x 2.3-3.0 mm, tubo valde piloso, staminodiis semper praesentibus. Flores disci numerosi hermaphroditi ± fertiles. Corolla lutea 5.5-6.0 mm longa laciniis leviter apertis margine resiniferis, tubo piloso. Rami styli usque ad 1.3 mm longi fertiles, appendices styli anguste triangulares 0.4-0.5 x 0.2 mm. Antherae 1.4-1.7 mm longae appendice longa et angusta. Ovarium ± fertile longe pilosum. Pappi setae 16-18 persistentes ad caducae 5-6 mm longae subalbae ad stramineae, in parte basali plerumque glabrae, superne breviter ad semilonge laxe dentatae. Achenia anguste elongato-obovata, apice saepe constricta, 5.0 x 1.5-1.7 mm, plano-compressa, fusca, indistincte anguste costata, dense et longe sericeo-pilosa. Pili 0.4-0.8 mm longi ± profunde furcati. Cellae epidermidis planae, plerumque pilis densis occultatae.
