Characteristics

Tota planta glaberrima, facie Elphegeae microcephalae. Rami filiformes, valde ramosi, teretes, purpurascentes, gracillimi, flexuosi, florigeri superne aphylli. Folia sparsa, tenuiter membranacea, alterna, acuta, integerrima, uninervia, parum venosa, plana, linearia, acuta, circiter 9'' longa, 1/2'' lata, semiamplexicaulia, flaccida. Capitula terminalia, solitaria, erecta, aeque magna ac in Erigeronte canadensi, breviter radiata, disco luteo, masculo, radio revoluto, coeruleo. Involucrum subtriseriale, disco aequale, subcylindraceum, foliolis sicco-membranaceis, viridibus, planis, ellipticis, acutis, ciliato-fimbriatis, glandulis linearibus, rufo-diaphanis ut in Tagete, perforatis, intimis 2'' longis, margineque scariosis exterioribus decrescentibus. Rhachis parva, nuda. Pappus disci: valde caducus, ex una alterave seta caduca, plumosa, corollis parum breviori constans; radii: omnino nullus. Corollae glabrae, disci: luteae, regulares, obconicae, limbo 5-dentato, erecto; radii: lingula coerulea, elliptica, 4-nervia, apice obsolete 3-denticulata. Antherae ecaudatae, alis ellipticis, acutiusculis. Pollen vix scabrum. Stylus masculus, bifidus, ramis linearibus, acutis, stigmate orbis, extus puberulis. Ovaria disci minutissima. Achaenia radii immatura, glabra, fusca, plano-compressa, elliptica.
