Planta perennis suffruticosa usque ad 26 cm alta a basi laxe ramosa. Caulis in parte basali lignosus laxe nodosus, subfuscus ad fuscus, dense foliosus, saepe denudatus et phyllopodiis et nervis foliorum decurrentium distinctis ornatus. Folia alterna erecta saepe cauli inclinata, obovata ad spathulata vel cochleariforma, in parte basali attenuata, apice rotundata, integra, margine saepe leviter revoluta, usque ad 6-21 mm longa et 1.4-2.0 mm lata, semiamplexicaulia, decurrentia, uninervia [as 'univervia'], nervo subtus distincte decurrente, utrinque forte albo-strigosa, interdum laxe glandulosa, crassiuscula et canaliculata. Capitula mediocra solitaria vel 2-3-fasciculata [as 'faciculata'], pedunculis 5-20(-25) mm longis dense setosis et glandulosis, robustis, stramineis ad subfuscis, raro viridibus, 2-3 bracteis anguste lanceolatis obsitis. Involucrum 2-3-seriatum subglobosum 6-7 mm altum et (8-)10-12 mm latum. Involucri bracteae cr. 20 leviter carinatae scariosae ciliatae apice fasciculato-ciliatae, laxe glandulosae et in nervo setosae, vitta resinifera interdum indistincta obsitae, stramineae ad subvirides; exteriores interioribus distincte breviores, cr. 4.0 x 1.3 mm, interiores inter se subaequilongae, 5.8 x 1.4 mm ad 5.6 x 1.0 mm. Flores radii feminei 11-14 caerulei vel violacei vel purpurei. Ligula obovata 4.0-6.3 x 1.9-3.0 mm, tubo interdum laxe piloso. Flores disci numerosi hermaphroditi 'female'-steriles. Corolla lutea 3.3-3.6 mm longa, angusta, laciniis vix apertis, plerumque setis longis singulis obsitis et margine resinosis. Stylus bipartitus ramis anguste triangularibus sterilibus, 1.00 x 0.15-0.20 mm. Antherae 1.1-1.2 mm longae appendice triangulari saepe obtusa. Ovarium sterile stramineum hyalinum glabrum. Pappi setae (18-)20-22(-24) persistentes usque ad 3.5 mm longae albidae, in parte basali breviter ad semilonge dentatae, superne longe sericeo-plumosae. Achenia ellipsoidea vel obovata ad ovata vel paene cordata 2.4-3.0 x 1.3-1.5 mm, atrata, splendida, anguste vel late interdum indistincte costata, ± dense longe pilosa; pili albi 0.20-0.45 mm longi distincte acute furcati, cellae saepe distorquatae. Cellae epidermidis globuloso-levatae.
