Characteristics

Plants with stout cauline roots 6-8 mm in diameter; stems somewhat woody, to 300 mm tall and 10 mm in diameter; leaves distichous, succulent, unequally bilobed, lobes rounded, to 120-200 x 15-30 mm. Inflorescences branched, compact, to 150 mm long and with 15-25 flowers, peduncles stout; bracts amplexicaul-ovate. Flowers sweetly scented, 15-20 mm in diameter, fleshy, sepals and petals yellow barred with red, lip white with a few reddish spots; ovaries to 12 mm long. Sepals sub-equal, narrowly obovate, 9-12 x 5-6 mm. Petals oblanceolate, rounded, obscurely keeled, 8-10 x 3-4 mm. Lip 3-lobed, 9-11 x 5 mm; midlobe triangular, fleshy, 6 x 5 mm, rugose; side lobes smaller, erect, forming a coarsely hairy channel to the acute basal sac. Gynostemium stout, 2 mm tall; staminodes slender, 1 mm tall; stigma deeply concave; rostellum very short. Capsules 50 x 8 mm, ribbed.
