Small well branched shrubs, with a single haustorial attachment; hairs short, stiff, spreading, simple or forked.
Leaves alternate, very shortly petiolate, with a pair of lateral nerves strongly ascending from near the base.
Berry narrowly obovoid, with a short neck, topped when young by the circumscissile calyx.
Flowers 1–3 in the axils, very shortly pedicellate; bract cupular, with a small limb.
Calyx tubular, much longer than the receptacle.
Style filiform; stigma ovoid-ellipsoid.
