Characteristics

A 20-60 cm high shrublet, branched from the base, with erect to suberect branches. Leaves patent below, erecto-patent and sometimes loosely imbricated above; blade usually lanceolate, more or less ciliate, rather soft, with revolute margins, uniformly green, eglandular. Flowers shortly pedicellate in 2-20-flowered subcapitate corymbs. Calyx segments lanceolate, acute, ciliate, more or less conspicuously glandular-punctate. Petal limb broadly oblong, truncate to apiculate. Staminodes rather slender, patently pilose, tipped by a capitate, reddish gland. Anthers sparsely pilose, tipped by a small, stipulate gland. Ovary papillate in the upper part; style recurved. Capsule somewhat shorter than the calyx.
