Characteristics

Shrub to 2.5 m high; stems erect, green to purple, glabrous. Leaves with petioles 15 mm long; lamina lanceolate to narrowly ovate, 70–90 mm long, 25–30 mm wide, attenuate basally, subentire with a few very shallow teeth, glabrous, not markedly discolorous. Capitula 5–7 mm diam., numerous, in erect terminal subumbelliform cymes; involucral bracts in c. 2 series, narrowly lanceolate, 4–5 mm long, almost glabrous, with veins obscure. Corollas 6 mm long. Achenes 5-ribbed, 2.5 mm long, sparsely setulous on ribs, otherwise glabrous, black. Pappus bristles 12–15, almost smooth, 3 mm long.
