Calyx 3.5–6.5 mm., shortly hispid-pubescent to glabrous; lobes 1.5–3 mm. long, broadly triangular, shortly hispid-ciliate.
Flowers solitary in axils of leaf-like bracts, shortly pedicellate; pedicels 1–1.5 mm. long.
Erect, (7)18–32 cm. tall; stems simple or branched, shortly pubescent to subglabrous.
Stamens subequal; filaments short, glabrous; anthers unequal, not apiculate.
Corolla yellow to orange with purplish venation, lobes subequal, rounded.
Bracteoles 1.5–3 x 0.2–0.75 mm., linear to filiform, shortly ciliate.
Bracts 2.5–6 x 0.5–1 mm., linear-lanceolate, hispid.
Capsule 4.5–6.5 x 5–6.5 mm., subspherical.
