Characteristics

Usually dioecious tree, 4-9 m high. Branchlets ascending, to 20 cm long; articles 6-10 mm long, 0.8-1 mm diam., smooth, glabrous; phyllichnia angular; teeth 6-8, slightly spreading, 0.5-0.7 mm long, the tips breaking off readily, marcescent. Male spikes head-like or slightly elongate, 5-6 mm long; anther 0.8-1.1 mm long. Cones cylindrical, very finely pubescent becoming glabrous, sessile or on peduncle to 7 mm long, spreading or recurved relative to branch; cone body 14-30 mm long, 12-17 mm diam.; bracts thickened; bracteoles and protuberances indistinguishable, acute to broadly acute. Samara 8-10 mm long, mid-brown.
