Allophylus dregeanus (Sond.) De Winter

A small tree up to 7 m in height; Bark: grey. Leaves: once-foliolate, giving the impression of being a simple leaf broadly ovate to elliptic, 8-2.5 x 5 cm, dark green above, paler green below, hairless except for hair-tuft domatia in the axils of the veins on the undersurface, net-veining fairly conspicuous; apex and base tapering; margin deeply and often sharply toothed, wavy; petiole up to 2.5 cm long swollen at the base of the leaf, finely hairy. Flowers: very small, whitish, in small clusters along the main axes of an unbranched, spike-like raceme up to 9 cm long. Fruit: ovoid, up to 10 mm long, red, borne on long spikes.
