Characteristics

Leaves 3-foliolate; petiole up to 7 cm. long, densely pubescent; leaflets subequal or the terminal one up to twice as long as the lateral ones; petiolules up to 12 mm. long in the terminal leaflet but usually much shorter in the sometimes subsessile lateral ones; lamina of terminal leaflet up to 15 × 7 cm., elliptic, thinly papyraceous, rather shortly pubescent on both surfaces, minutely glandular beneath and with rather inconspicuous tufts of hairs in the axils of the lateral nerves, apex acute to rather blunt, margin usually rather sharply dentate or serrate and occasionally slightly lobed, base cuneate and sometimes narrowed towards its extremity; lateral nerves 6–9 pairs.

Outer sepals 1·8 × 2 mm., very broadly transversely elliptic, inner 1·2 × 1·1 mm., subcircular, concave, all minutely pubescent with minutely ciliate margins.
Flowers in few-flowered subsessile glomerules or in cymules with rhachis up to 3 mm. long; pedicels up to 2 mm. long, pubescent.
Shrub up to 2·5 m. tall; branchlets pale-coloured, pubescent when young and usually rather tardily glabrescent.
Inflorescence 3–8 cm. long, usually unbranched, pubescent.
Petals 1·2 × 1 mm., spathulate.
