Characteristics

Leaves 3-foliolate; petiole 2·5–5 cm. long, densely fulvous-pubescent; leaflets subequal or the terminal one up to 1 1/2 times as long as the lateral ones; petiolules up to 10 mm. long in the terminal leaflet and up to 4 mm. long in the lateral ones, fulvous-pubescent; lamina of terminal leaflet up to 10 × 6· 5 cm., elliptic, papyraceous, pubescent on both surfaces (densely so beneath), minutely glandular beneath and with occasional rather inconspicuous tufts of hairs in the axils of the lateral nerves, apex acute to rounded, margin rather remotely and shallowly serrate or crenate-serrate, base cuneate; lateral nerves 6–8 pairs.

Outer sepals 1·5 × 1·2 mm., elliptic to broadly elliptic, inner 1·5 × 1 mm., elliptic, all sparsely pubescent and with margins minutely ciliate.
Flowers (immature) in rather dense subsessile glomerules; pedicels up to 2·5 mm. long at time of fruiting, sparsely pubescent or glabrous.
Fruit up to 6 × 5 mm., broadly obovoid-ellipsoid to subglobose, sparsely pubescent, 1 coccus usually developing.
Shrub 1·5–2 m. tall; branchlets densely fulvous-pubescent to fulvous-tomentose, tardily glabrescent.
Inflorescence up to 12 cm. long, unbranched, densely fulvous-pubescent.
