Characteristics

Plant to 2 m tall. Leaves shortly petiolate; lamina lanceolate, acuminate, glabrous, 12-25 cm long, 2-4 cm wide; ligule 3-4 mm long, entire, usually minutely ciliate. Inflorescence 5-8 cm long, glabrous; bracts lanceolate, c. 10 mm long, each subtending a cincinnus of up to 6 flowers; bracteoles 4-6 mm long; pedicels to 4 mm long. Calyx 3-4 mm long. Corolla tube 3-4 mm long; lobes 3-4 mm long. Labellum reniform, shortly clawed, 4-6 mm long, 6-8 mm wide, rose-red. Lateral staminodes minute. Filament 1.5-2 mm long; anther 1.5-2 mm long; crest minute, pubescent. Ovary 2 mm long, glabrous, trilocular or imperfectly so. Capsule c. 1 cm diam.
