Tuber discoid-hemispheric, 4–13 cm. in diameter, 2.5–7 cm. long.. Petiole 1–1.5 m. long, ± 2.5 cm. in diameter at base, pale green or with very faint purplish blotching or grey with brown spots; blade ± 1 m. in diameter; ultimate lobes lanceolate, oblanceolate, narrowly elliptic or ovate, acuminate, 7–20 cm. long, 2–5 cm. broad, dull green above, glossier beneath.. Inflorescence appearing before leaf, subtended by 2 oblong, subacute, pinkish and conspicuously green-spotted cataphylls 10–30 cm. long.. Peduncle 5–12 cm. long, 0.5–1.5 cm. in diameter, glossy green, unspotted.. Spathe 11–23 cm. long; tube broadly obconic, strongly constricted at apex, 5–9 cm. long, 6–10 cm. in diameter, outer surface flesh-coloured with dull greenish circular spots overlain by numerous fine greenish or purplish-brown veins, inner surface reddish purple, densely and ± transversely rugulose-verruculose, the projections often scale-like and subtriangular and then 0.5–2 mm. long; limb broadly ovate, acuminate, 8–12 cm. long, 10–16 cm. broad, widely spreading, often ± horizontal, margins undulate, inner surface darker purple at margins, becoming reddish purple basally.. Spadix 19–55 cm. long, longer than spathe (often more than twice as long); sterile appendix tapering gradually upwards, narrowed at base, 15–50 cm. long, 1.5–4 cm. in diameter near base, 0.3–2 cm. in diameter near apex, densely and shallowly verruculose, dull dark purple; staminate part obconic, strongly narrowed basally, 2–3.5 cm. long, 1.8–4 cm. in diameter; pistillate part ± cylindric, 1–3 cm. long, 1–2 cm. in diameter, often separated from staminate part by naked interstice up to 9 mm. long, pistils congested or somewhat distant.. Stamens free, 1.5–2 mm. long, 1.5–2 mm. broad, bright yellow.. Pistil 3 mm. long; ovary 2.5 mm. in diameter, green, 2-locular; ovules solitary in each locule; placentation at base of septum; stigma sessile, subglobose, shallowly 2-lobed, pale yellow..
