Plant robust.. Tuber depressed-globose, up to 30 cm. in diameter.. Cataphylls oblong-lanceolate, 30–49 cm. long, 5–11 cm. broad, pinkish white with green blotching.. Petiole 1–2.5 m. long, ± 4 cm. in diameter, purple, liver-coloured or pinkish with grey-green to green spots; ultimate leaf-lobes obovate, acuminate, 7–20 cm. long, 3–7 cm. broad, bright to dark glossy green.. Inflorescence appearing just before leaf, up to 2 m. tall; peduncle 30–100 cm. long, 1–2 cm. in diameter, colour similar to petiole.. Spathe 29–50 cm. long; tube obliquely ovoid to obovoid, gradually constricted towards apex, 8–15 cm. long, 5.5–7.5 cm. in diameter, outer surface dull olive green with whitish mottling, inner surface densely covered towards base with filamentous to subulate projections up to 4 mm. long, dull dark purple; limb ovate-triangular, acuminate, margins undulate, 19–34 cm. long, 12–25 cm. broad, suberect with reflexed apex, dark liverish purple on inner surface, becoming paler at base..
