Characteristics

To 1.25 m tall, appressed-pubescent. Leaves narrow-oblong to ovate in outline, mostly 2-7(-9) cm long x 0.5-3(-5) cm broad, unlobed or lobate at the base, usually deeply toothed. Flowers mostly 1-2 in the upper leaf axils, sometimes clustered terminally, scarcely or not exceeding the subtending leaf. Involucral bracts ovate to oblong-ovate, 2-6 mm long x 1.7-4 mm broad, usually remaining joined at the base after anthesis, mostly thin, inconspicuously veined, closely stellate, and chartaceous with age.
