Perennial herb with cluster of 7 to 10 fusiform roots. Stem single, slender, erect, terete, mostly 250-500 mm high, about 3-4 mm thick towards the base, densely pubescent with multicellular hairs. Leaves opposite, ovate to orbicular, 20-45 mm long, 10-35 mm broad, becoming progressively smaller upwards, ciliate with white hairs on both surfaces, margins and apex pink, petiole up to 50 mm long. Inflorescences 2-5 flowered, axillary, from upper nodes of stem, 10-25 clustered towards the apex, pedicels slender up to 30 mm long, pink, puberulous becoming broader when in fruit; bracts lanceolate, up to 2 mm long, pubescent on outer surface. Flowers rotate, diameter 3-4 mm, height 2-3 mm. Sepals linear-triangular, apex tapered and both margins folded inwardly, about 2.5 mm long, pink, outer surface puberulous, inner glabrous; glands in sinus of sepal lobes, 0.25 mm long. Corolla 5-lobed, tube forming a shallow cup, lobes spreading, ovate, about 3 mm long, about 1.25 mm wide, connate to about one-third its length, glabrous on both surfaces, outer surface green, inner yellow. Corona yellow, glabrous; outer corona 5-lobed, lobes cleft to the base; inner corona lobe entire, with 5 slightly cucullate extensions from which emerge a strap-like, slightly concave appendage that projects over the stigma-style head. Anther-wing small, with a distinct step midway up its length. Pollinarium pollinia 0.15 mm long, 0.1 mm wide, brown, arm about 0,025 mm long, corpusculum about 0.1 mm long. Stigma white, slightly concave. Follicle one by abortion, about 100 mm long, subfusiform, green.
