Characteristics

Perennial herb, up to 400 mm high. Stems decumbent or procumbent, rarely semiscandent, mat-forming. Leaves basal and alternate; blade entire or lyrate-pinnatisect to pinnatisect, 100-200 x 20-80 mm, apex obtuse, base cuneately narrowed into petiole, margins entire, lobed or faintly dentate, upper surface ± glabrous, pilose-tomentose or glandular-pilose, lower surface white-tomentose or glandular-pilose. Heads radiate, solitary; peduncles ± 200 mm long. Involucral bracts white-tomentose or glandular-pilose, apex of outer bracts acuminate, of inner bracts pandurate, erect or reflexed. Flowers: ray florets female, fertile, yellow, often washed purplish brown below; disc florets many, bisexual, yellow; Aug.-Apr. Fruit with cypsela obovoid, ± glabrous, wrinkled, with a linear furrow, basal ring of hairs absent. Pappus absent.
