Characteristics

Erect annual, up to 300 mm tall. Lower leaves petiolate, elliptic to lyrate-pinnatifid, middle and upper leaves sessile, upper leaves ovate-oblong to oblong-linear, base broad and semi-amplexicaul; ± glabrous or lightly felted on both surfaces. Outer involucral bracts with shortly reflexed, softly hairy appendage. Ray floret limb orange, yellow, or cream with yellow basal band; disc florets black. Cypsela obovoid,.2 linear cavities, minutely pubescent, rugose; pappus uniseriate, 8 minute scales.
