Characteristics

Succulent shrublet, up to 160 mm tall, densely branched, old branches forming spines. Leaves 3-sided, sticky, collecting wind-blown sand, warty with age. Flowers pink, pale towards base, filamentous staminodes and stamens arranged in a cone, white below, pink above, nectary a ring. Fruit 8-locular, top as wide as base, rims conspicuous, valve wings large, rectangular, old fruit bases not persistent, stigma bases persistent.
