Young twigs densely fulvous to ferruginous pubescent.. Petioles 0.5–1 cm. long, 2–4 mm. thick, densely pubescent; leaf-blade elliptic-oblanceolate to oblong-elliptic, (10–)25–40 cm. long, 5–12 cm. wide, acutely acuminate, attenuate to the acute base, sharply serrate, sometimes coarsely so, rarely subentire, chartaceous, lateral nerves 20–25(–30) pairs, looped well within the margin, midrib and lateral nerves prominent beneath, sparingly hirsute-pubescent above and densely fulvous or ferruginous hirsute-pubescent beneath at first, later becoming quite glabrous above and sparingly hirsute-pubescent beneath..
