Corolla yellow, turning reddish with age; standard 13–17 × 11–15 mm, obovate, sparsely to densely silky pubescent or tomentose outside on the upper half, glabrous or subglabrous to the base; wings 11–13 × 4–5 mm, obovate-oblong, with rows of folds between the upper veins, whitish pilose near apex; keel as long as the wings, the petals with a well developed crest towards the base, glabrous.
Inflorescence leaf-opposed, pedunculate, racemose but usually 1-flowered, sometimes 2–3-flowered; peduncle 5–70 mm long; bracts 3–6 mm long, linear.
Stems slender, usually less than 2 mm in diameter, up to c. 3 mm in diameter at the perennial base, grey or yellowish villous or sericeous.
Calyx 12–14 mm long, pilose to sericeous outside; the upper lip 2-lobed to near the base, the lobes lanceolate.
Erect subshrub up to 30 cm tall, with few to many stems from a woody taproot.
Pod 25–50 × 4–5 mm, oblong, flat, sericeous.
