Characteristics

Bushy herb or shrub, 7–20 dm. tall.. Branches thinly to densely covered with long weak spreading tawny hairs.. Leaflets oblong-lanceolate to elliptic or obovate-elliptic, up to 20–56 mm. long and 12–25 mm. wide, pilose on both surfaces, rather more densely so beneath; petiole ± 5–13 mm. long.. Stipules acuminately ovate or oblong-elliptic, (10–) 14–18 mm. long, 6–8 mm. wide, with the leaf-opposed margins united for most of their length.. Racemes subcapitate on ± 1–6 cm. long peduncles, ± 12–24-flowered; lowest bracts linear-lanceolate, ± 6–13 mm. long, but upper ones often smaller and narrower.. Calyx 11–12 mm. long, subappressed pubescent, but rarely very densely so; upper lobes linear-lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate.. Standard obovate-orbicular to suborbicular, 9–12 mm. long, yellow, generally thinly pubescent medially and apically outside, glabrous towards the sides; wings with rows of folds between the upper veins; keel 8·5–11 mm. long, with a crest on the lateral surface towards the base and a claw shorter than the blade-width, glabrous along the margin.. Pod 27–30 mm. long, 6–8 mm. wide, appressed or spreading pilose, ± 10–12-seeded.. Seeds oblique-cordiform, ± 2·5 mm. long, brown.
