Perennial with numerous often rather woody spreading or ascending stems from a woody stock and under favourable conditions also from narrow spreading rhizomes, up to 1–7 dm. tall.. Stems slender, much branched, rather thinly spreading pilose, ultimately glabrescent.. Leaflets oblanceolate to obovate-elliptic or obovate, up to 8–24 mm. long and 4–9 mm. wide, with a few scattered hairs above, sparsely pilose beneath; petiole ± 2–4 mm. long.. Stipules linear-caudate or filiform, ± 2–5 mm. long, free.. Racemes subumbelliform on 0·5–7 cm. long peduncles, ± 1–12(–16)-flowered; bracts mostly linear, up to 2–4 mm. long.. Calyx 6–10 mm. long, subglabrous to pilose; upper lobes subulate.. Standard obovate, 7–10 mm. long, yellow, glabrous to pilose outside; wings with crescent-shaped folds between the upper veins; keel-petals 7–10 mm. long, with a prominent crest on the lateral surface and a claw longer than the blade-width, glabrous along the margin.. Pod 13–28 mm. long, 4 mm. wide, with the valves transversely constricted between the seeds, spreading pilose, ± 8–10-seeded.. Seeds oblong-ovoid, ± 2–2·5 mm. long, mauvish-brown..
