Perennial, geophytic herb, 50-250 mm high. Stems 1 or 2, erect, unbranched, annual. Leaves scabrid, with blade oblong, crowded near base, if corolla purple, then blade 19-75 mm wide, if corolla ivory, whitish pink and mottled with irregular purple blotches, then blade 1.2-7.0 mm wide, veins protruding below with long white hairs. Flowers: 4 per umbel, 1-4 inflorescences per stem, large, erect, ± at same level; corona slipper-shaped, white; corolla lobes 8-12 mm long, with tips upturned, white tinged brownish or reddish mauve; Nov.-Jan.
