Characteristics

Perennial, geophytic herb, 535-550 mm high. Leaves linear, sometimes slightly curved, 45-95 x 1-3 mm, base cuneate. Inflorescences 4-8-flowered; peduncle 4-20 mm long. Flowers white to green, sometimes tinted with purple; corolla lobes spreading-erect, ± 10 x 4.0-6.5 mm, lower surface and margins with long setose to villous hairs; staminal column ± 1.8 mm high, stipitate by 1.0-1.5 mm long. Corona: lobes 7.7-9.4 mm high, ± 3.5 mm wide, with upper distal end extended into long, dentate-filiform appendage 4.8-6.0 mm high, upper proximal end extended into a shorter fin-like appendage, 0.9-1.2 mm protruding over style-stigma-head, upper margin cleft. Anther: appendage ligulate, 0.8-0.9 mm long.

Stem about 2 ft. high, 1 lin. thick at the base, simple, glabrous; leaves sessile, 2-4 3/4 in. long, 1 lin. broad, linear, scabrous on the revolute margins, otherwise glabrous; umbels lateral at the nodes, pedunculate, several-flowered; peduncles 1-1 1/6 in. long; pedicels 4 1/2 lin. long; sepals 2 lin. long, subulate, puberulous; corolla-lobes about 1/2 in. long, oblong, obtuse, fimbriolate on the upper part, clear green; corona-lobes much overtopping the style-apex, 3 1/2 lin. long, subulate, with the apex inflexed, dark purple red, with a pair of acute white wings on the inner face; staminal column 1 1/4-1 1/2 lin. long.
