Characteristics

Plants (15-) 30-60 cm tall, stems simple or rarely branched. Leaves opposite, longer or shorter than internodes; lamina 1-3.5 (-6) X 0.05-0.3 (-0.4) cm; upper surface glabrous, pubescent or pilose, lower surface glabrous except for the pilose midrib. Flowers 1-7 per node; pedicels 1-3 mm long. Calyx segments 1.5-2.5 x 0.5-1.25 mm, pilose. Corolla lobes 2-3.5 x 1-1.5 mm, spreading at anthesis, dull green; dorsal surface thinly pilose, ventral surface densely pubescent, the hairs often longer towards the base. Corona 1-1.7 mm high, of type A; basal lobe 0.5-1 mm high, with square or rounded shoulders; apical process broadly triangular, erect, or sometimes almost absent; ventral appendage equalling or exceeding process, broadly triangular, erect; corona brownish. Corpusculum 0.23-0.35 mm long; pollinium 04-0.58 mm long with indistinct germination zone. Fruit 4-6 cm long, puberulent.
