Characteristics

Plants 12-100 cm tall, stems simple or branched. Leaves opposite, longer or shorter than internodes; lamina 1-8 x 0.05-0.3 cm; upper surface glabrous or pubescent, lower surface glabrous except for the pilose midrib. Flowers 2-13 per node; pedicels 2-6 mm long. Calyx segments 1-2 x 0.5-1 mm, pilose, sometimes with brown glandular hairs. Corolla lobes 2-4 x 1-2 mm, campanulate to spreading at an thesis, brownish green; dorsal surface sparsely to densely pilose, the indumentum sometimes including brown glandular hairs, ventral surface glabrous. Corona 1-3 mm high, of type B; basal lobe 0.5-1.5 mm high, with square or rounded shoulders; ventral appendage erect or inflexed; or sometimes the corona lobe represented by an erect scale 3-toothed at apex, the middle tooth the longest; corona whitish, sometimes marked with purple. Corpusculum 0.13-0.43 mm long; pollinium 0.3-0.58 mm long, with distinct germination zone. Fruit 4-5 cm long, slender, densely appressed-pubescent.

Pollinia 0.3-0.6 mm long with distinct germination zone; corpusculum 0.1-0.5 mm long. Flowering time Nov.-Mar., May-July. Fruit 40-50 mm long, densely appressed-pubescent without echinate bristles.
