Characteristics

Plants 6-12 (-23) cm tall, stems usually several-branched and ascending. Leaves verticillate, irregularly inserted or opposite, densely crowded to well spaced; lamina 1-3 x 0.05-0.9 cm, narrowly linear to broadly elliptic, sometimes undulated; upper surface pilose or glabrous, lower surface glabrous except for the pilose midrib. Flowers honey-scented, 3-10 per node; pedicels 4-9 mm long. Calyx segments 1.5-3 x 0.5-1 mm, pilose. Corolla lobes 2.5-4.5 x 1-2 mm, spreading at anthesis, green; dorsal surface glabrous or thinly to moderately pilose, ventral surface glabrous or pubescent. Corona 1.5-3 mm high, of type A; basal lobe 1 mm high, with square or rounded shoulders; apical process erect, short and broadly triangular to long and slender; ventral appendage shorter than, equalling or rarely exceeding the process, erect to slightly inflexed; corona white. Corpusculum 0.15-0.28 (-0.33) mm long; pollinium 0.35-0.48 (-0.65) mm long, without apparent germination zone. Fruit 4.5-6 cm long, puberulent, with scattered bristles 0.5-2.5 mm long. Seed c. 4 mm long; coma c. 17 mm long.

Pollinia pyriform, germination zone inconspicuous; corpusculum 0.1-0.3 mm long. Flowering time Aug.-Apr., June. Fruit 45-60 mm long, with scattered bristles 0.5-2.5 mm long.
