Leaves opposite or irregular below the inflorescence, whorled in the inflorescence, usually crowded but occasionally shorter than internodes; lamina 1.4-3.5 x 0.05-1.2 cm, acicular to oblong to broadly elliptic or even suborbicular; upper surface glabrous, sparsely scabrid or pilose; lower surface glabrous, pilose throughout or hairy only on midrib. Flowers 2-13 per node; pedicels 5-10 mm long. Calyx segments 2-6 x 0.5-2 mm, pilose with hyaline or brownish hairs. Corolla lobes 4-7 x 2-4 mm, spreading, flat or replicate at anthesis, green striped with brown or with purple; dorsal surface appressed pilose with hyaline or brownish hairs, rarely hairs stiff and patent; adaxial surface glabrous or pubescent, with indumentum all over or only round the margin. Corona (2-) 3-7 mm high, of type A; basal lobe 1-3 mm high, with shoulders peaked or less often rounded or sloping; apical process erect; ventral appendage entire or less often bifid, usually much shorter than process, somewhat inflexed; corona white marked with pink. Corpusculum 0.2-05 mm long; pollinium 0.43-1 mm long, without obvious germination zone. Fruit very rarely developed, c. 4 cm long, covered with appressed bristles c. 4 mm long, crispate-pubescent.
