Species

Angiosperms > Gentianales > Apocynaceae > Aspidoglossum

Characteristics

Plants 9-18 cm tall, stems simple or sparsely branched. Leaves opposite with internodes mostly exceeding leaves; lamina 1.1-3.4 x 0.4-1.8 cm, linear, broadly elliptic or hastate; upper leaf surface pubescent, lower surface pilose especially on midrib and veins. Flowers 1-7 per node, greenish; pedicels 2-8 mm long. Calyx segments 2-3.5 x 1 mm, pilose with patent hairs. Corolla lobes 3-4 x 1.5 mm, spreading and replicate at anthesis, with stiff patent hairs on the centre of the dorsal surface, otherwise glabrous. Corona 2 mm high, each lobe erect, triangular at apex with ventral appendage slightly longer than subtending lobe, inflexed, once-coiled or uncinate at tip. Corpusculum 0.33-0.4 mm long; pollinia 0.45-0.55 mm long, without obvious germination zone. Fruit unknown.
