Aspidoglossum validum Kupicho

Plants 20-100 cm tall, branched or unbranched. Leaves irregularly and densely arranged on lower part of stem, verticillate in inflorescence; lamina 1.8-4 x 0.15-0.9 cm, narrowly linear to oblong, broader leaves often with undulate margin; upper surface minutely scabrid, lower surface completely glabrous or the midrib sometimes minutely scabrid. Flowers 4-6 per node; pedicels 4-10 mm long. Calyx segments 3.5-5 x 1.5 mm, appressed pilose with fine brownish hairs. Corolla lobes 8-9 x 3-4.5 mm, spreading and flat at anthesis, dark brown or dark purple; lower surface glabrous or appressed pilose with brownish hairs, upper surface densely hyaline patent pilose. Corona 6.5-7.5 mm high, of type A; basal lobe 3 mm high, with shoulders peaked; apical process erect, once-coiled at the tip; appendage bifid, erect, c. 1/2 as long as process; corona white. Corpusculum 0.38-0.83 mm long; pollinium 1-1.25 mm long, without obvious germination zone. Fruit unknown.
