Terrestrial fern. Rhizome short creeping, scaly, the scales very narrowly triangular, 4–6 mm long, with dark brown cell walls. Stipe brown becoming green above, 9–10 cm long, 1.5–2.5 mm diam., glabrous except at base with scales similar to rhizome. Lamina 2-pinnate, ovate or ovate-deltoid, 12–23 cm long, 7–15 cm wide, glabrous; rachis flattened, becoming narrowly winged at least in upper half. Primary pinnae in 6–9 pairs, ovate-deltoid to lanceolate, stalked or the uppermost subsessile; apices acute; longest pinnae between middle and base, 5–9 cm long, 1.5–4 cm wide. Secondary pinnae cuneate-rhomboid, with blunt teeth or pinnatifid forming lobes 1–5 mm long, apices obtuse to truncate, bases cuneate, sessile or shortly stalked; longest pinnae 1–2.5 cm long, (2–) 5–12 mm wide. Sori 2–3 mm long, confined to the margins.
