Characteristics

Perennial, much-branched, herbaceous, scrambling or twining climber; with clear sap. Stems 0.5-3.0 m long. Leaves spreading, subcoriaceous, lanceolate to linear-oblong 8.5-31.0 x 2-10 mm, base rounded or truncate to subcordate/subhastate, apex acute or acuminate and notably terminally apiculate, margins thickened or slightly revolute; petioles 1.5-5.2 mm long. Inflorescences in pseudo-umbels, 2-5(-9)-flowered; peduncle 2-12 mm long, often ± pendulous; pedicels 2.0-4.2 mm long. Sepals lanceolate, apex acuminate, 2-3 mm long. Corolla tubular-campanulate; tube 1.0-2.5 x 2 mm; lobes 2.0-2.5 x 1.0-1.5 mm, spreading to spreading-erect, oblong, twisted near apex; corolla purplish red with lobe margins cream-coloured. Staminal column 2.0-2.5 mm tall. Staminal corona absent (reduced to a small thickening). Anthers erect and apically appressed against conical style-stigma-head which extends beyond anthers by 2.53.0 mm, apically obtuse or minutely bifid. Pseudostipe absent or minute.

Slender climber, up to 1 m tall, with fibrous roots, stems up to 1 mm thick. Leaves ± elliptic, 10-20 x 2-5 mm, grey-green, minutely pubescent to glabrescent. Flowers 2-9, opening together in lax, often sessile clusters along stem, pedicels < 5 mm long. Corolla campanulate, 5-7 mm diam., whitish outside, inside pinkish to whitish, glabrous, except for 5 hairy patches in tube, lobes spreading, ± 2 mm long.
