Characteristics

Leaves 1.5–15 × 0.4–6 cm, elliptic or elliptic-oblong to elliptic-oblanceolate, shortly acuminate at the apex, cuneate at the base, glabrous and ± shiny above, glabrous beneath or with very sparse hairs on nerves and midrib and with hairy domatia; costa impressed above and venation finely raised beneath; petiole 2–5 mm long; stipules narrowly triangular-subulate, 4–5 mm long, acuminate, hairy inside.

Shrub or small tree 2–8 m. tall with ± glabrous elliptic-oblong leaves to 15 × 6 cm.. Inflorescences 3–10-flowered, the corolla white with adpressed pubescent cylindrical tube 0.5–2 cm. long, otherwise very similar to Heinsenia diervilleoides (see p. 730).
Inflorescences appearing axillary and terminal, 3–10-flowered; peduncle 2–7 mm long, the secondary axes and pedicels 5–9 mm long; all axes pubescent to densely hairy; bracts and bracteoles c. 3 × 2 mm, ovate-triangular, acuminate.
Corolla white; tube 0.5–2 cm long, cylindrical, appressed pubescent outside; lobes 1.2–2 cm × 3–6 mm, linear-oblong, appressed silky pubescent outside.
Calyx densely pubescent; tube 1.5–2.5 mm long; limb-tube 2–3 mm long; lobes (1) 2–5 mm long, linear.
Shrub or small tree 2–8 m tall with brown glabrous or ± pubescent stems, the bark ± flaky.
Fruit 1.2–1.3 cm in diameter, globose, glabrous, ± crowned by the persistent calyx limb.
The pollen presenter/stigmatic lobes 7–8 mm long.
Style 0.7–2.4 cm long.
Anthers c. 1 cm long.
