Presumably perennial herb with erect stems, up to 15 cm. high, with thin, flexible, almost filiform stolons up to 30 cm. long, on which are opposite cataphyls.. Younger stems and petioles with stiff erect hairs of two different lengths.. Leaves opposite; stipules from a pair of opposite leaves partly fused to form interpetiolar stipules, up to 4 mm. long; petiole very short, up to 1 mm. long at most; lamina narrowly elliptic to lanceolate, 2.5–3.5 cm. long, 1–1.5 cm. wide, base cuneate, margin serrate with (3–)5–9 acute teeth on each side, apex acute, apical tooth up to twice as long as broad; lateral nerves 2–4 pairs, basal pair reaching almost 3/4 towards the apex before arching towards the midnerve and anastomosing with upper lateral nerves; both surfaces with sparse to abundant stiff erect hairs.. Male inflorescences pedunculate, axillary at the upper leaves; peduncle up to 0.5 cm. long, with indumentum as on the stem, but usually more sparse; ♀ inflorescences sessile in the lower leaf-axils (occasionally 1–a few ♀ flowers found in the axils of cataphyls on the stolon), 1–3 together.. Male flowers 2–4(–5), with a minute bract at the base of each; perianth up to 2 mm. long, with some stiff hairs on the outside.. Female flowers shortly pedicillate; perianth up to 2.5 mm. long, cylindrical, glabrous on the outside, with several ridges and ± 5 blunt teeth at the apex, between which the filiform style projects..
