Characteristics

Plants to 1.8 m tall, without a basal leaf-tuft. Culms erect, 2–4 mm wide, glabrous; nodes c. 3, exserted, glabrous. Leaves: sheaths loose, moderately ribbed, shortly puberulous, glabrous on margins; ligule 6–12 mm long, acute, shortly puberulous; blade rolled, to 100 cm long, 1–2 mm wide, smooth and glabrous on abaxial surface, with margins glabrous. Inflorescence 30–40 cm long. Glumes subequal, 12–16 mm long, acute to acuminate. Callus 2–3 mm long, white-sericeous. Lemma cylindrical, 9–12 mm long, smooth, white-pilose; coma 3 mm long; lobes 2.5 mm long; awn 50–80 mm long, scabrous, with column 10–20 mm long. Palea 3 (or 4)-toothed. Lodicules 2.
