Characteristics

Plants to c. 1 m tall, without a basal leaf-tuft. Culms erect, 1–1.5 mm wide, glabrous; nodes c. 3, exserted, glabrous. Leaves: sheaths not loose, slightly to moderately ribbed, glabrous to minutely puberulous; ligule 2.5–8 mm long, obtuse, shortly puberulous; blade tightly rolled, to 50 cm long, 1–2 mm wide, smooth and glabrous on abaxial surface, with margins scabrous or glabrous. Inflorescence 30–35 cm long. Glumes subequal, 10–12 mm long, acute to acuminate. Callus 1.1–1.5 mm long, white-sericeous. Lemma cylindrical, 6.5–9 mm long, smooth, white-pilose; coma 2–2.5 mm long; lobes 2–2.5 mm long; awn 25–50 mm long, scabrous, with column 10–20 mm long. Palea 3 (or 4)-toothed. Lodicules 2.
