Leaves: ligule 0.5–2.5 mm long, broadly acute to truncate, sericeous, coriaceous; auricles ciliate; blade usually expanded, 2–3 mm wide, glabrous to pubescent on abaxial surface, deeply ribbed and pubescent on adaxial surface. Inflorescence 15–20 cm long, contracted to spreading, sparse; spikelets slightly gaping. Glumes unequal, 18–23 mm long, acuminate. Callus 2–3 mm long, with hairs similar to those of lemma. Lemma narrowly cylindrical, 7.5–8.5 mm long, granular to almost smooth, goldensericeous, with apical 0.5–1 mm scabrous; coma 0.5–0.8 mm long; lobes
