Cultivation

Introd. in 1992 by Richard A. Hamilton and Philip J. Ito, Univ. of Hawaii, HITAHR, Honolulu, Hawaii. A sweet, firm-fleshed starfruit with good shelf life. Selected in 1980 at the Poamoho experimental farm as DR11T1 from open-pollinated seedlings of Sri Kembangan. Trees are vigorous, have a round, compact canopy, and are productive. Thinning of fruit clusters is recommended for better fruit size. Fruit mature about 60 days after flowering; they are 10-15 cm in length, 7-8 cm across, with five distinct wings. Skin is deep yellow and flesh is bright orange-yellow when fully ripe. Soluble solids 17%. Origin: Tree: Fruit:
