Scandent shrub up to 5 m high or liana up to 20 m high; trunk up to 2 cm in diameter; branches slender, grey to red-brown; branchlets densely pubescent.. Leaves petiolate; blade obovate to oblong, 2–8.1 cm long, 1.1–3.7 cm wide, acute to apiculate, sometimes obtuse at the apex, cuneate to rounded at the base, pubescent or glabrous; secondary veins in 6–12 pairs, reddish domatia present; petiole 1–5.6 mm long, pubescent, with colleters.. Inflorescences axillary and sometimes also terminal, pubescent; peduncles 0.5–16 mm long; pedicels 0.7–2.2 mm long.. Flowers fragrant; sepals narrowly ovate or oblong, 1.7–2.8(–4.1) mm long, (0.4–)0.6–1 mm wide, pubescent outside, with colleters within; corolla bright yellow, with pink throat fading orange; tube cylindrical, urceolate or funnel-shaped, 1.8–4 mm long, glabrous or pubescent outside; scales united into a recurved ridge, 1–2.3 mm from the base of the tube; lobes ovate or sometimes oblong, 2–3 mm long, 0.9–1.4 mm wide, obtuse or subacute at the apex, glabrous or pubescent outside, pubescent inside; ovary cylindrical or subglobose, pubescent at the apex; style 0.2–0.9 mm long, minutely pubescent or papillose; disk 0.1–0.3 mm high.. Fruit follicles red-brown, 20–30 cm long, 0.2–0.5 cm in diameter, glabrous, brown-pubescent when young; seeds black 9–18 mm long, 1.6–1.8 mm wide; coma 18–38 mm long.
