Stamens isomorphic; filaments short and stout; anthers more or less coherent in a ring, laterally compressed, broadly oblong, elliptic, or dolabri-form, opening by two terminal pores; connective neither prolonged nor appendaged. Ovary inferior, 5-to 15-celled; style stout; stigma large, capitate. Fruit a large many-seeded berry. Trees or tall shrubs, with large ovate or oblong leaves and large white or pink flowers on short pedicels solitary or few in the leaf-axils.
