Characteristics

Perennial, caespitose, dwarf shrublet, single or in loose clumps, up to 0.2 m in diam., up to 50 mm high, with roots thickened. Leaves opposite, lanceolate, shortly acute, tapering abruptly to base, yellow-green, bladder cells, apex mucronate, central and outer pairs borne upright. Flowers borne in cymes, yellow, tinged reddish below, opening around midday, closing towards evening. Flowering time spring to early autumn, peaking in Nov., Dec. Capsules 5-locular, closing bodies pyriform, expanding sheets reduced, expanding keels linear, acute, valve wings absent.
