Characteristics

Perennial, caespitose, dwarf shrublet, single or closely dispersed, up to 0.05 m high, roots thickened. Leaves ovate, acuminate, tapering abruptly to base or truncate, dull grey-green, bladder cells, apex mucronate, sometimes tinged red, central; spreading, outer ones decumbent. Flowers borne in cymes, yellow, tinged reddish below, opening in late afternoon, closing at night. Flowering time spring to early autumn, peaking in Nov., Dec. Capsules 5-locular, closing bodies pyriform, expanding sheets broad, expanding keels broad, valve wings absent.
