Characteristics

Frutex erectus ramosus fide collect. 60-120 cm altus. Rami in partibus iunioribus leviter tomentosi, deinde glabrescentes et cortice fusco rimoso obtecti, usque ad capitula dense foliati internodiis cr. 2-5 mm longis. Folia alterna, sessilia, linearia, 2-5 cm longa, 1.5-3 mm lata, apice in spinam fulvam 2-3 mm longam acuminata, margine revoluta, in lateribus irregulariter spinis usque ad 5 mm longis obsita, supra primum levissime tomentosa, deinde glabrescentia, subtus albidi-tomentosa. Capitula in apicibus ramorum solitaria vel compluribus ± conferta, radiata, expansa cr. 1.5-2 cm diam. Involucri squamae leviter tomentosae, spinosi-acuminatae, cr. 5-8 mm longae, exteriores lineari-subulatae, cr. 1 mm latae, margine spinis eis in foliis similibus in 2-3 iugis dispositis obsitae, sequentes sensim lanceolati-triangulatae, 2-2.5 mm latae, margine spinis paucioribus et brevioribus obsitae et denique inermes. Margines alveolarum receptaculi irregulariter denticulatae vel leviter incisae. Achaenia cr. 2-3 mm longa, pilis sericeis brevibus ± dense obtecta. Pappi squamae ut videtur uniseriatae, cr. 20, lineari-oblongae, acutae, minutissime dentioulatae, or 1 mm longae.
