Characteristics

Frutex fide collect. decumbens vel subdecumbens ramosus cr. 20-30 cm altus. Rami cani-vel cinerei-tomentosi, in partibus vetustioribus glabrescentes et cortice canifusco obtecti, usque ad capitula ± aequaliter foliati. Folia alterna, sessilia, rigide membranacea, ambitu obovati-cuneata, basin versus longe angustata, 15-30(-45) mm longa, 5-10(-15) mm lata, apice acuta, in spinam fulvam velfuscam 1-3 mm longam excurrentia, margine ± plana, apicem versus spinosi-dentata dentibus in (1-)2 iugis dispositis in spinas ei in apice similes excurrentibus, basi auriculas minutas saepe inconspicuas paucis spinis minoribus obsitas gerentia, supra et subtus canivel cinerei-tomentosa. Capitula in apicibus ramorum solitaria, radiata, ligulis expansis 4-6(-7) cm diam. Involucri squamae patentes, ut folia tomentosae sed interiores intus levissime tantum tomentosae vel subglabrae, in spinam fulvam vel fuscam 1-2 mm longam excurrentes, margins spinis similibus in 3-5 iugis obsitae, exteriores ovatae, (5-)7-10 mm latae, sequentes sensim lanceolatae et denique lineari-lanceolatae, mediae 15-20(-25) mm longae, ceterae breviores. Margines alveolarum receptaculi integerrimae. Achaenia 2-2.5 mm longa, pilis sericeis dense obtecta. Pappi squamae subbiseriatae, cr. 10+10, lineari-subulatae, longe acuminatae, cr. 0.2-0.3 mm latae, margine denticulatae vel breviter fimbriatae, interiores cr. 2.5-3 mm longae, exteriores cr. 2 mm longae.
